Is time one of your most important assets? Are your friends racing up the level charts while you languish behind? Do you need to get your alt up to 80 as fast as possible? World of Warcraft is a complex game, and it’s not always obvious which decisions will allow you to level up quickly.
* Get a custom tour guide – Customized add-ons can provide you with in-game guides that will direct you to the exact locations for quests, gold, and items.
* Pick the right zone – Questing in the wrong zone can cost you time and experience. Make sure you’re in the right place!
* Don’t miss your class quests – Every class has a specialized set of quests that provide experience and occasionally some additional capabilities. Your class quests can help you with more experience down the line.
* Maximize your talent tree – The talent tree is one of your most important assets, but it’s often ignored or haphazardly built. A well-built talent tree can save hours of time between level 1 and level 80!
* Take advantage of PvP experience – Quests and dungeons aren’t the only sources of experience. Make sure you use the battlefield as an experience boost.
* Capitalize on WoW’s built-in macro features – You won’t need any add-ons to use World of Warcraft’s built-in macro features. With one mouse click, you can attack, defend, and heal with ease.

If you’re a World of Warcraft player, then you know the only “wrong” thing to do when leveling Druid, Rogue, Mage, and other classes is when you end up face-to-face with the Spirit Healer. Even then, a quick resurrection usually gets you up and going without too much fuss. If time is an important consideration, however, then you may want to avoid anything that gets in the way between you and level 80.
Is there really a faster and more effective way to gain experience? When I saw these power leveling techniques, I was shocked at how much time I was wasting! Here are some of the techniques I learned:
- Don’t complete quests out of order – World of Warcraft won’t let you mix up the parts of a quest, but it will let you turn in quests that are designed for a much lower level. Higher ranked quests provide much more experience, so it doesn’t make sense to waste all that time for a smaller reward. The key is to know where the most rewarding quests are for your level.
- Don’t waste time – Although World of Warcraft was built with balance in mind, some quests fall outside the scope of this objective. Some quests require traversing long distances, collecting varied items, and traveling back to the original point. For the amount of time that quest took, you could have completed three others! If you’re trying to maximize your experience and minimize your investment of time, then you’ll need to know which quests are the most efficient.
- Get the right gear – The right mix of gear can help you deal more pain, take less damage, and gain more experience in a shorter amount of time. Some gear can even add additional experience as an added bonus! With the right gear, you’ll find yourself dinging faster and faster.

If you’re in a relatively large World of Warcraft guild, then you probably have a constant series of “ding” updates when your other guild members make it to a new level. You may also notice that some names keep popping up at seemingly impossible rates. What does that player know that nobody else does?
World of Warcraft is a game of strategy and technique. Unfortunately, many people approach their experience in WoW as a hack-and-slash battle of the sword, where their sole purpose is to kill as much as possible. Simply running around and killing may be enjoyable, but it isn’t the most efficient leveling method.
Expert WoW players have a completely different perspective on power leveling. To really crank through the experience points, you need a combination of many different skills. The right mix of techniques can save hours of time as you travel from level 1 to level 80.
There are useful techniques used by expert WoW players (click here to have a look). Some of these strategies include:
- Fully leveraging the auction house – If you want to get the best possible gear, then you’re going to need lots and lots of gold. The auction house can be a valuable source of currency, especially when combined with a valuable tradeskill. An especially useful skill is arbitrage, where valuable items are purchased in the auction house for a low cost and immediately “flipped” for big profit if you know what you’re looking for!
- If you’re good with a trade, you can make your own gear and save a ton of gold. A well-geared toon will rack up the experience points much faster.
- Some of Warcraft’s seasonal events come with enormous experience bonuses, and some of these quests are nearly instant experience gainers!
